Coming to History this Fall

Coming to History this Fall

In addition to the amazing existing series that will be getting new episodes, History has lots of exciting new shows coming this Fall. Let’s take a look at what’s coming soon.

American Ripper
Premieres Tues. Aug. 29th at 10pm E/P

At age 40, California attorney Jeff Mudgett is stunned to learn a gruesome family secret; his great-great-grandfather was Herman H. Mudgett, a.k.a Dr. H. H. Holmes, the man considered to be America’s first “serial killer.” Obsessed with learning more, Jeff follows a bloody trail of hidden clues and historical facts which will hopefully strengthen his case and prove his theory that Holmes had traveled to England to commit the “Jack the Ripper” murders. Jeff teams up with a top-notch crime detective who will help link these two sinister historical characters together by connecting century-old clues with modern day methods of investigation. We watch the grisly story of H.H. Holmes and his 1000 targets unfold through disturbing, detailed recreations that are combined with first-person, doc-style storytelling, leading us all the way to England and back.

Hunting Nazi Treasure
This series is about the greatest heist in history and the biggest treasure hunt in the world today. Between 1933 and 1945, the Nazis looted millions of cultural treasures and billions in gold. They stole wedding rings, gold teeth fillings, diamonds and jewelry; they cleaned out museums, libraries, churches, synagogues, businesses, factories and family homes. Incredibly, some of what the Nazis robbed is still missing today, including over 100,000 artworks such as pieces by Degas, Van Gogh and Raphael; and caches of gold and other cultural treasures, some of which are worth tens of millions of dollars. In 2007, a former CIA economist estimated the total value of still missing Nazi loot at over $100 billion. The recovery effort began in the final days of the Second World War. It continues today.
Hunting Nazi Treasure puts the emphasis on modern-day action, detective work and authentic searching. Each episode follows a team of investigators on the trail of missing loot. This is not a series about the same old battles and generals. We treat the Nazis as a gang of thieves, a criminal mafia that systematically looted an entire continent. When you follow the money, it leads to strange places and surprising revelations. The last perpetrators, witnesses and victims of the greatest theft in history are in their final years. Right now represents the best chance to unearth final clues, piece together the evidence, and track down these treasures before the trail goes cold. For the surviving victims of the Nazi Regime, some of whom lost everything, it’s the last chance for them to find peace, justice and restitution.
