Designed in Canada, the Avro Canada (C-102) Jetliner was North America’s first passenger jet.
After some delays, its maiden flight was on August 10, 1949 and exceeded 800 km/hour. These delays prevented the Jetliner from being the first passenger jet to take flight in the world, as the Comet was launch in Britain just 13 days before.
The federal government stopped all development and production of the Jetliner in 1951. It was cut up for scrap but the nose can be found in the Canadian Aviation Museum in Ottawa
