Glenn Gould, a celebrated Canadian pianist, died on Oct 4, 1982 in Toronto.
Gould received his musical training entirely in Canada at the Toronto Conservatory of Music (now the Royal Conservatory of Music). In his career, Gould would become one of the best-known and distinguished classical musicians of the 20th century. Gould was also a writer, broadcaster, composer and conductor. At the age of 50, Gould died suddenly from a stroke. To this day he remains one of the world’s most respected musicians and a Canadian cultural icon.
