    The Governor of New France, Vaudreuil, surrendered Montréal to General Amherst to complete the British conquest of New France.

    By the terms signed this day, the British guaranteed the people of New France immunity from deportation; the right to depart for France with all their possessions; continued enjoyment of property rights; and freedom of worship.

In 1985, a brutal killer had Southern Californians fearing for their lives. Richard Ramirez, known as “The Night Stalker”, entered homes in the dead of night to terrorize the people inside. After six months and 14 murders, Ramirez was chased and beaten by a gang of citizens and finally arrested for his horrendous crimes.
